Frauke Petry (born Marquardt; June 1, 1975) is a German politician. She’s been the head honcho of the Alternative for Germany party since July 4, 2015.

Before taking the top spot, she was one of three spokespeople from 2013 to 2015. She snagged the leadership role in 2015, bumping the party founder, Bernd Lucke, after a little internal power play. Petry’s known for her anti-Muslim stances, pushing for minaret bans, and arguing that German cops should only use guns as a last resort for stopping illegal border crossings. She’s a chemist and a small business owner by trade.
