This is why it's hard to take the Oscars seriously. She was probably brilliant as Tammy Faye (I haven't seen it despite my wife's urging), but there's absolutely no way she matched her performance in "The Tree of Life." Was she even nominated for that role? Acting at its finest is the truth. TOL is the only film of Jessica's she cannot watch because it is THE TRUTH. She likely conveyed some of Tammy Faye's truth in her performance and deserves credit for that, but was it the pure truth like in TOL? French actresses are the best in the world and a César is the highest accolade an actress can receive because French actresses always reveal the truth on screen.
