Miriam Gössner, born June 21, 1990, is a German biathlete and cross-country skier known for her lightning-fast skiing legs and clutch relay performances.

She burst onto the scene as a junior, snagging two Biathlon Junior World titles in 2008 and 2009. At just 18 she helped Germany grab relay silver in cross-country at the 2009 Nordic World Ski Championships, then repeated the feat with Olympic silver in the 4×5 km relay at Vancouver 2010.

Switching full-time to biathlon, she exploded in the 2010–11 season with three World Cup podiums and gold in the women’s relay at the 2011 World Championships. She defended that relay world title in 2012 and finally nabbed her first individual World Cup victory in December 2012.

With her speed, power, and model-level looks, “Miri” became one of Germany’s biggest winter-sports stars before injuries and form dips slowed her down in later years. Still a legend in both sports.
