Meet Björk Guðmundsdóttir, born November 21, 1965, known just as Björk, an Icelandic singer and songwriter who’s been crushin’ it for over three decades. Her music’s a wild mix, pullin’ from electronic, pop, experimental, trip hop, dance, classical, and avant-garde sounds.

She first blew up as the lead singer of the alt-rock band The Sugarcubes, with their 1987 track “Birthday” bangin’ on US and UK indie stations and gettin’ love from critics. Björk kicked off her solo grind in 1993, droppin’ albums like Debut (1993), Post (1995), and Homogenic (1997), teamin’ up with all kinds of artists and divin’ into multimedia projects. A few of her albums, includin’ her 2015 joint Vulnicura, cracked the top 20 on the Billboard 200. She’s had 30 singles hit the top 40 worldwide, with 22 in the UK, includin’ top 10 bangers like “It’s Oh So Quiet,” “Army of Me,” and “Hyperballad.”
