After graduating with honors in literature with a thesis in semiology from the University of Turin, she joined the Fininvest Group in 1985, first as a press officer and then as an editor for Nonsolomoda, a weekly current affairs and lifestyle program on Canale 5. In the fall and winter of 1987-1988, she briefly hosted the Italian national television channel Odeon TV as Signorina Buonasera.

In 1988, she moved to Rai 1, where she hosted several news and entertainment programs until 1991, including Porto Matto, Il sabato dello Zecchino, and Big! News.

In 1992, she was hired by TG5, then just starting out, and remained there until 2008.
